HER ELYSIAN BACKGROUND

Aneitua originates from Elysium—the Elysian Fields, whose background reaches into ancient Greek traditions concerning a blessed existence beyond ordinary mortal life. In Homer's Odyssey, Menelaus is destined for the Elysian plain at the world's extremity, where life is extraordinarily gentle; his connection to Zeus through Helen is specifically given as the reason for this privilege. Hesiod likewise describes Zeus granting selected heroes existence among the Islands of the Blessed. In later Greek and Roman traditions, Elysium became increasingly incorporated into the geography of the Underworld, the realm associated with Hades, as a privileged destination of the dead.
