ABOUT QINVARA

QinVara is a newly presented Vampire Queen available exclusively through Lucifera and the Temple of Nyx.

Regal, formidable, intensely vampiric, and extraordinarily powerful, QinVara is not a Queen for the faint of heart. Her presence carries an ancient Blood Current, commanding authority, and an exceptionally pronounced vampiric bloodlust.

Within her Temple lineage, QinVara identifies with the Mytilene Vrykolakas, while her ancestry reaches still further into what she identifies as the far older Zmora vampire race.

The Mytilene association gives her classification an intriguing historical foundation. Folkloric and archaeological evidence from Mytilene on Lesbos preserves traditions concerning the vrykolakas—the feared returning dead—and unusual burials intended to prevent suspected revenants from returning.

Zmora, however, is QinVara's deeper lineage within the Temple's spiritual account of her ancestry and should not be confused with a historically documented Greek vampire classification.

In Polish and wider Slavic traditions, the Zmora was associated with the terrifying realm between sleeping and waking. Folklore describes a nocturnal being that could descend upon sleepers, oppress the chest, interfere with breathing, leave a person exhausted, and—according to some traditions—draw blood. Some accounts understood the Zmora as the wandering soul of a living person that became active independently during the night.

QinVara is not being classified historically as a Zmora. Instead, the comparison helps describe her affinity with the darker territories of dreams, nocturnal consciousness, vampiric energy, and the mysterious boundary between sleep and waking.
